DRINK: Veranda 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon – Carménère

Veranda 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon – Carménère
Colchagua Valley, Chile
Price: About $18

I like my red wines to have what I call ‘junk in the trunk’ – that’s my way of saying that I like a big, bold, full-bodied, and well-rounded wine. This Cab Sauv – Carménère does not disappoint. Deep purple in the glass – the wine gives the scent of blackberries and chocolate on the nose. A sip reveals lots of ripe fruit with a hint of pepper. This wine is big and bold but smooth. I would pair it with roasted meats in the winter or savory grilled meats in the summer. This wine will stand up to big robust flavors.

I’m definitely putting the Veranda 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon – Carménère in my regular rotation.
